Hormonal changes that occur in pregnancy and childbirth can lead to hair loss. During the last trimester of pregnancy, hair growth may be greater due to the overproduction of hormones.

However, immediately after delivery, these hormones are decreased significantly and hair follicles are forced to a phase of prolonged rest. During this phase the hair shedding is greater, but no new growth occurs, leading to hair loss. (more…)
