Treatment of alopecia areata has changed dramatically over the last decade. New therapeutic options are available for patients with alopecia areata.

Alopecia areata affects different sectors of the scalp in the form of circles usually totally depopulated of hair. While there is no treatment today 100% effective for this type of alopecia, if there are treatments that help a little to restore hair in these cases.

Dermatologist is the duty of informing the patient of all possible alternatives for the treatment of alopecia areata, its side effects and success rates. The final decision is made jointly between the patient, the family of the patient and the dermatologist.

People who are predisposed to develop alopecia areata disorder of their immune system by which your body does not recognize as their own hair follicles and thereby creates defenses against them trying to remove them. Likewise, alopecia areata occurs in response to two main factors: a genetic predisposition to suffer and immunological disorder.

Care to prevent alopecia areata

* Brushing your hair every day, and thereby eliminate the substrate attached.
* The hair must be done with a comb provided with no sharp spikes, suspenders and avoid forced hairstyles.
* Wash 2 to 3 times per week the scalp, rinse well with soft water, and drying at moderate temperature.
* Avoid bleach hair coloring and often.
